For Rent: Les Deux Cypres in Sanilhac (just outside Uzes)

Les Deux Cypres is characterful and charming 18th century stone village house near Uzès.

Located in the old village of Sanilhac close to the gorges of La Baume on the river Gardon, 8 kms upstream from the famous Roman Aqueduct "Pont du Gard" and 7 kms from Uzès, Nimes and Avignon 30 minutes drive, beaches 50 minutes.

Sanilhac is a typical southern French village and has an excellent boulangerie with its own coffee shop/saladerie, a further restaurant/bar and its own winery.  It is surrounded by vineyards/fruit orchards and asparagus fields.  Walk through the protected garrigues, where fragrant blends of lavender, rockrose, rosemary, thyme and honeysuckle surround you and watch the circling Bonelli eagle high above the gorges.  Continue down the gorge to La Baume to a wonderful secret beach on the river Gardon for swimming in the crystal clear waters.  The site of la Baume St. Vérédeme is an ancient hermit dwelling, carved into a natural tunnel in which is ensconced a tiny chapel.  For kayaking, canoeing and river swimming at nearby Collias, see website: http://www.euroriviere.com/gardon/indexa.html

The housekeeper is English speaking and lives in a nearby  village. 

Les Deux Cypres is ideal for up to 6 adults and the master bedroom can further accommodate a child on a full size put-you-up bed. Full oil central heating and therefore can be used all year round, ideal for family/friends at Christmas time too.  Note it is not suitable for children under 12 or the disabled, due to the ancient staircase to first floor.  Lovely private court yard, plus terrace from the 2nd floor bedroom.  It is a spacious house with exposed stone walls and vaulted ceilings throughout the ground floor.  Exposed wooden beams and stone walls on the upper floors.  Exquisitely and very comfortable furnished with many antiques, oriental carpets, paintings and furnishing brought over from England by the owners.

Large farmhouse kitchen/eating area with dishwasher, fridge/freezer, gas and electric hob/full oven, microwave and comprehensively equipped.    Door leading to a very private courtyard, perfect for outdoor eating with BBQ.  Wrought iron dining furniture and sun chairs.

   

Atmospheric vaulted dining room.  Large antique pine refectory dining table, small drinks fridge, pine side cabinet and small antique oak table.  Door leading to small front garden.

                                                          

Vaulted sitting room furnished with cream settees, oriental carpet and paintings, antique side tables and subtle lighting. 

                                                                 

First Floor:                                                                                                                    

Ancient stone staircase to upstairs to double story sitting/TV room/3rd bedroom with double sofa bed, 2nd settee and matching chair & oriental artifacts on walls.  Very light and airy, with feature balcony window and exposed stone walls.  32 inch TV/DVD/CD and film sound surround with range of DVD's and CD's.  Portable Radio/CD player and small library.

                                                      

Main large master bedroom with Juliet balcony  window to courtyard, queen sized orthopaedic bed. Comfortable sofa.  Mullioned window, exposed stone and fabric covered walls.  Centre cooling fan lighting.  En suite bathroom with bath/hand shower, WC and bidet and washing machine, large dressing area.  Extra put-up- bed for child if needed.

                         

Second floor:                                                                                                                2nd bathroom off galleried landing with small bath/hand shower.  WC and bidet.   Galleried landing leading to 2nd bedroom with twin beds (can be made up as a queen-sized bed).                                                                             Mobile cooling fan available.

Not included in the rental prices are

  • Deposit in the form of a personal cheque of € 400 (euro), to be reimbursed within 8 weeks after departure, in full or deducted for repairs.
  • Telephone as per France Telecoms bill, which will be provided within 8 weeks after your stay
  • Obligatory rental of linen at € 10 (euro) per person for 1 set
  • Optional: Rental of towels,  Bath/hand towel € 4 / € 3/pc,                  (swimming towels not provided)
  • Single cleaning charge of € 100 (euro)
  • Extra cleaning or washing of linen, if required, can be negotiated with the housekeeper and paid direct to her.
  • Electricity € 50 (euro) per week
  • For heating, if needed, € 80 (euro)/per week

Arrival / Departure :

  • Arrival is Saturday, between 4.30 pm and 7 pm
  • Departure is Saturday not later than 10 am

Payment of rental and deposit:

  • 50% within one week of making the booking. The rental is only confirmed after this down payment has been received.
  • 50% plus deposit, 8 weeks before arrival.

Cancellations :

  • If your cancellation reaches us 90 days before the planned arrival date, a 20% cancellation fee will be charged.
  • If your cancellation reaches us between 90 and 60 days before the planned arrival date, a 50% cancellation fee will be charged.
  • If your cancellation reaches 59 or fewer days before the planned arrival date, a 100% cancellation fee will be charged.
